Attaching a designated weapon light to a carry gun can be another useful tool for the individual. Many young shooters feel that the additional benefits of a weapon light outweigh its negative effects.

Some believe that if a threat sees the light and tries to shoot at the source, the weapon light may become a target. However, with proper training you should have the light on for a short period of time and then move to ensure you never stay in the same place for too long.

Laser attachments have become very popular over the last few years, providing shooters with laser sights and grips. These are also excellent for those with little or no light engagement. They also now provide an alternative reference point for older shooters if the user is unable to see clearly due to ageing eyes. I have shot with many people who use laser attachments to help them see the target point. I think glock light can be very beneficial, but it is easy to rely on them. Rather than trying to rely on the laser, it is better to use it in conjunction with an iron sight.

Ultimately, it depends on your age and what works best for you. Often, younger shooters prefer a weapon light to a laser as it is more versatile in low or no light situations. Personally, I think a light mounted on a weapon provides the shooter with more information about a particular situation than a laser. Now I would say that a laser is much more beneficial to an older shooter compared to a younger shooter. Time affects a shooter's eyesight and a laser can greatly help with aiming. If your eyes are starting to age and you are having trouble focusing on your target, I would consider using a laser or red dot to assist. There is nothing wrong with trying different systems and seeing what works best for you.

Everyone will have different opinions and preferences, so it really comes down to personal opinion. Both systems are great, but I prefer to carry a good torch rather than a laser. I know there will be some people who will scream at their screens just to buy a pistol flashlight. In theory it looks great, but when both are on it tends to be bulky and look busy. Stick to one system at a time and try them out before using both.
